Remastered art is a collection of old paintings edited by Serge. This creates a fusion of an old & a new master on one canvas. The result is a surprisingly contemporary work of art.

Remastered art is a new art style that combines past and present to create a new art movement. Contemporary artists edit old paintings that have been forgotten due to varying appreciation and changes in taste. This process creates a new, interesting and contemporary work of art. By ‘remastering’ an old painting, the lifespan of this old piece is extended in an innovative and sustainable way. Old paintings are given a second life.
Remastered art by Serge
A spool of thread, a pencil, a thimble or a safety pin – these are things we carelessly hold in our hands every day, but Serge de Vries forces us to really see them. For Remastered Art he chose old portraits, landscapes and still lifes. In his own work (small oil paintings) Serge isolates his subject and places it outside the everyday context. He does that again on these old masters. The chosen subjects have a narrative effect on the old canvases and invite the viewer to create their own story.
